The frequencies of IL-10+ and FOXP3+ CD4+CD25hi cells and the corresponding IL10 and FOXP3 transcript levels did not vary significantly according to the age or gender of the patient groups; however, those with gastric or duodenal ulcers had significantly lower frequencies of CD4+CD25hi cells than who only had gastritis (medians: 1.80 and 3.89%, respectively; p = 0.047). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and duodenal ulcer.
