We demonstrated, as expected, that in our hands female 5XFAD exhibited an increase in AD markers with age, including, an increase in APP and Bace1 expression, higher protein levels of BACE1 and sAPPβ, and higher number of amyloid plaques indicating the development of AD pathology as described elsewhere in aged 5XFAD [38]. This evidence concerns the gene BACE1 and Alzheimer disease.
