Our previous study reported that PTEN is a direct target of miR-141 and that the expression of the PTEN protein is downregulated by miR-141 in NPC cells.30, 39 Moreover, increasing evidence has indicated that aberrant activation of the PTEN/AKT pathway is essential for the development and progression of NPC.55, 56 Here, we confirmed that miR-141 decreases the protein level of PTEN in NPC cells and promotes the phosphorylation of AKT. Here, AKT1 is linked to nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
