Because phosphorylation at Ser 62 stabilizes c-Myc, whereas subsequent phosphorylation at Thr 58 is required for c-Myc degradation29, we next examined whether ELL promoted degradation of a c-Myc Thr 58 phosphorylation-dead mutant, T58A, a Ser 62 constitutive-phosphorylation mutant, S62E, as well as a Burkitt's lymphoma-derived Myc mutant, P57S. The gene discussed is ELL; the disease is Burkitt lymphoma.
