A special case is the noncoding pseudo gene BRAFP1, which has been shown to be either mutated or aberrantly expressed in cancers, like its coding homologue BRAF. A mouse model revealed that induced overexpression of Braf-rs1 (the murine homologue of BRAFP1) leads to DLBCL (diffuse large B cell lymphomas)-like tumors. Here, BRAF is linked to cancer.
