In order to investigate the role of IL-6 in this A129 ADE model, DENV2-infected mice born to DENV1-immune mothers were treated with an anti-IL6 blocking antibody at day 2 p.i. In sharp contrast to what was observed when TNFα was neutralized at the same time point, no differences were observed in terms of survival, clinical scores or viremia in the anti-IL6 treated mice compared to the isotype control group (Fig 8A–8C). Here, IL6 is linked to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
