Diabetes‐induced cardiac apoptosis and oxidative stress are considered to be associated with inactivation of the PI3K‐AKT‐GSK‐3β pathway 24, 33, 34, which was confirmed here, as demonstrated by a significant decrease in the expression of PI3K (Fig. S4A) and the phosphorylation of AKT (Fig. S4B) and its downstream target GSK‐3β (Fig. S4C) in the diabetic hearts.
