An analysis of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) revealed that use of DPP-4 inhibitor sitagliptin or GLP-1 receptor agonist exenatide increased the Odds Ratio (OR) for pancreatitis more than 6-fold, while increasing the OR for pancreatic cancer more than 2-fold, in comparison with other medications (Elashoff et al., 2011); however, most other clinical studies have demonstrated no evidence suggesting such risks (Li et al., 2014; Nauck, 2013). Here, GLP1R is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
