Human YAP and TAZ were subsequently found to act as F-actin responsive mechanosensors in cell culture (Aragona et al., 2013; Benham-Pyle et al., 2015; Dupont et al., 2011; Zhao et al., 2007), but how their subcellular localisation is physiologically regulated in human epithelial tissues and cancers in vivo remains a fundamental unsolved problem.
