In fact, it has been shown that P. gingivalis fimbriae induced two distinct TLR2 pathways mediating pro-inflammatory and pro-adhesive effects [30] and, more recently, that a fine tuning of the TLR2-CR3 crosstalk mediates inflammation and phagocytosis during Francisella tularensis infection [55].
