Strikingly, in contrast to the fact that IGF signaling in C2C12 myoblast was significantly suppressed by IGFBP-3 at 0.1 μg/mL (Fig. 4a), IGF signaling in Capan-1 cells wasn’t suppressed by IGFBP-3 unless at a very high dose, namely 10 μg/mL (Fig. 6a), suggesting that the sensitivity to IGFBP-3 in Capan-1 cancer cells is decreased by over 100 folds compared to C2C12 myoblasts. The gene discussed is IGFBP3; the disease is cancer.
