TP53 and cancer: Falahi et al. (2015) supposes that dCas9 can contribute for epigenome engineering to develop animals for cancer study. Effector domains attached to dCas9 could generate epigenetic mutations known to evolve to different cancer types. Also using dCas9, attached or not to KRAB domain, initial studies in human cells HEK293 and HEK293T, showed repression of TP53 (Lawhorn et al., 2014).
