Figure 5A shows that the diabetes-free survival rate was significantly higher for mice (82%, n = 11) transferred at the age of 6 weeks with CD4+ T cells isolated from female NOD mice preimmunized with CCGAD65 peptide and expanded in vitro, as compared to control mice (33%, n = 12) receiving cells generated from mice immunized with the loss-of-function peptide. Here, CD4 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
