There are four clinically relevant breast cancer phenotypes currently recognized [6]: luminal A (ER+, PR+, HER2−, Ki67 low), luminal B (ER+, HER2−, PR−, or Ki67 high), triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC; ER−, PR−, and HER2−), and HER2 over-expressing tumors (HER2+). The gene discussed is ESR1; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
