DISC1 and schizophrenia: Of note, using novel speech intermediate phenotypes derived from Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) of performance on a category fluency task, Nicodemus et al. [2014a] showed that a measure of the unusualness of speech (the average vector length) produced in a one‐minute response to the cue “animal,” was significantly associated with a functional SNP in the gene Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) in both male probands with schizophrenia and in male controls.
