It has been shown that resveratrol exerts its positive effects by promoting the protein deacetylase enzyme silent information regulator 2/Sirtuin 1 (Sirt1) activity [62,63] through an allosteric mechanism [64] and has emerged as an agent that can extend the life span, probably through the delay of most chronic illnesses, including cancer [65], by preventing genome instability [66,67].
