Elevated concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1β and TNF-α, were found in blood, CSF and other tissues in Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and severe subarachnoid hemorrhage, evidencing the participation of inflammation in the pathogenesis and outcome of these diseases [37,40,43]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
