Cancer models showed an overall greater capacity for lactate secretion (in accordance with the Warburg effect [115, 116]), glycolysis [71], the pentose phosphate pathway [116] (particularly through the up-regulation of TKT1 [71]), and through methylene-THF dehydrogenase (MTHFD2) in the conversion of 5,10-methylene-THF to 5,10-methenyl-THF (positive direction)[71]. This evidence concerns the gene MTHFD2 and cancer.
