CRP and susceptibility to pneumonia measurement: In 2014, CRP testing was incorporated in the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for the diagnosis of pneumonia.10 The guidelines recommend not routinely offering antibiotic therapy if the CRP is <20 mg/L, considering a delayed antibiotic prescription if CRP is in the 20–100 mg/L range, and offering antibiotic therapy if CRP concentration is >100 mg/L.
