Metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) is one of the first found cancer-associated lncRNAs, and is also referred to as nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 2 (NEAT2).5 MALAT1 was initially found to be highly expressed in lung cancer and is a favorable prognostic factor for the survival of patients with stage I non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).6 However, little is known about the role of MALAT1 in glioma progression. This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and central nervous system cancer.
