SELE and coronary artery disorder: CAD is considered to be the number 1 cause of death in both males and females in many parts of the world.46 While previous research has established a broad range of risk factors, no factor has consistently been linked to CAD risk except for the formation of coronary atherosclerosis.47,48 Mounting evidence has suggested inflammation as an important component in the pathological process of coronary atherosclerosis.49,50 The SELE gene is a known cell adhesion molecule with a significant role in inflammation.
