IL1B and Alzheimer disease: Our data showed that there was no association of the IL-1β-511 T>C polymorphism with AD risk, which is consistent with the data from a large meta-analysis of 17 association studies between AD and the IL-1β-511 T>C polymorphism (including 3371 AD patients and 3338 controls) [16, 36], although four other studies of Caucasians showed a positive association between the -511TT genotype and AD (OR = 1.32) with a total of 1158 AD patients and 863 controls [21, 37–39].
