When compared with subjects with baseline CD4 counts <50 cells/μL, those with counts in the 50–200 cells/μL range (OR = 0.76, 95%CI = 0.60–0.98) and in the 351–500 cells/μL range (OR = 0.31, 95%CI = 0.11–0.85) were at decreased risk of HCV co-infection. Here, CD4 is linked to coinfection.
