The TSP1 domain of CCN proteins consists of 55 amino acids including 6 conserved cysteine residues and a conserved CSxTCG motif, which in CCN6 is CSRTCG [49, 50] While the function of the TSP1 domain of CCN proteins in normal cells and in cancer is largely unknown, it has been reported to modulate cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation in a cell type and context specific manner [49-53]. The gene discussed is CCN6; the disease is cancer.
