In vitro cell culture and animal studies [36–39] have demonstrated that equol possesses natriuretic and vasorelaxant properties via increasing the transcription of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and redox-sensitive genes, enhancing renal blood flow and sodium excretion, which plays an important role in the attenuation of the development of hypertension. Here, NOS3 is linked to hypertensive disorder.
