An ethanol extract of the plant exhibited anti-osteoporosis activity in ovariectomized rats, as shown by inhibition of urinary calcium excretion and the activities of bone resorption markers such as TRAP, cathepsin K, and deoxypyridinoline crosslinks; the bone quality (e.g., bone mineral content, bone volume fraction, connectivity density, tissue mineral content, tissue mineral density, and trabecular number) was improved [265].
