Reduced IL-18 levels and increased relative abundance of bacterial phyla Bacteroidetes (Prevotellaceae) and TM7 have been observed in NLRP6-deficient mice, which present spontaneous intestinal hyperplasia, chemokine (C–C motif) ligand 5 (CCL5)-mediated inflammatory cell recruitment, and exacerbation of DSS-induced colitis.
