NPPB and peripartum cardiomyopathy: Although only one woman with abnormal echocardiographic findings fulfilled the diagnostic criteria of peripartum cardiomyopathy, one could assume that also the other women with abnormal echocardiographic findings may have similar pathophysiological processes since some shared risk factors for peripartum cardiomyopathy, and all women with abnormal echocardiographic findings had significantly elevated levels of NT-proBNP.
