IL-17 is a potent pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine that participates in tissue inflammation by activating several cytokines, matrix metalloproteases and stimulating neutrophils proliferation and migration and its concentrations is increased in sera and tissue of several autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease (8,9). This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and multiple sclerosis.
