Behan et al. (2009) identified three proteins involved in synapse-associated functions (LSAMP, BASP1, and STXBP1) while in a subsequent study from the same group (English et al., 2009), some intermediate filaments (NEFH, vimentin) and cytoskeleton-associated proteins (DPYSL2, DPYSL3, YWHAE) showed the same change in abundance in bipolar disorder as in schizophrenia. Here, DPYSL2 is linked to schizophrenia.
