Since the first identification of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) as an obesity-susceptibility gene by Frayling et al. [3], numerous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have been performed in order to confirm the association between FTO single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and obesity-related phenotypes in several populations [4, 5]. The gene discussed is FTO; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
