Further analysis of the best performing (MKL-Gaussian) model revealed that overall the model generated more accurate predictions regarding MCI-to-dementia progression for subjects with the following characteristics (Fig 6A–6G): older age; females; higher educational level; APOE epsilon 4 allele non-carriers; not using AD medications; multiple cerebrovascular disease risk factors; or a history of depression. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and depressive disorder.
