Analysis of the correlation between tumor-infiltrating immune cells and survival revealed that among patients with HPV-positive tumors, which displayed significantly lower numbers of IL17+ cells than the HPV-negative tumors, a high number of intra-epithelial T cells was indeed correlated with improved disease-free survival (p = 0.003, Fig. 4a) compared to a low intra-epithelial T cell frequency (i.e., lowest quartile). This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and neoplasm.
