While the mechanism by which IFITM1 overexpression enhances the aggressiveness of SUM149 cells is not known, we should note that Ras homolog gene family member C GTPase (RhoC-GTPase) is overexpressed in 90 % of IBC tumors as compared with 38 % of the stage-matched non-IBC tumors and that in SUM149 cells overexpression of RhoC-GTPase is associated with loss of WNT1 inducible signaling pathway 3 (WISP3). Here, IFITM1 is linked to inflammatory breast carcinoma.
