The overexpressed or activated EGFR in turn activates several critical signaling pathways, with the most frequently altered signaling pathways in HNSCC being the Phosphatidylinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks)-Akt-Mammalian target of Rapamycin (mTOR) and NF-κB/IKK signaling pathways [2, 5, 6, 10–12]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
