Additionally, if the plasma membrane surface occupied by mucin secreting vesicles is considered by the pathologist (Figure 3 and Table 1, “normal mucinous”), the homogeneity of marker expression on the cell-surface is decreased and the staining scores for GPR56, GRM8, and LY6G6D/F in non-neoplastic colon tissue samples decreased, allowing better discrimination of CRC from surrounding tissues.
