This Triciribine-sensitive activity of Akt has been demonstrated to play a role for maintenance of viral replication [3], an observation, which has been also confirmed by overexpression of a constitutive active mutant of Akt [37] and is also supported by the observation reported herein that pretreatment with Triciribine inhibits infection and production of infectious HCV particles (Fig 7). The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is infection.
