According to the Lauren classification, gastric cancer can be classified into adenocarcinomas of the diffuse and the intestinal type, and the latter is believed to arise secondary to chronic gastritis and be associated with relatively better prognosis.71 Although enormous efforts have been made to explore genetic susceptibility of IL-10 gene -1082A>G to gastric cancer risk,72–74 there has been little attention on specific subtypes of gastric cancer. The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is chronic gastritis.
