Another recent meta-analysis pooling 55 RCTs (n = 33,350) and 5 observational studies (n = 320,289) revealed that the incidence of pancreatitis among patients using DPP-4 inhibitors is low and these drugs do not increase the risk of pancreatitis (OR: 1.06, 95% CI: 0.46–2.45).19 The authors concluded that current evidence is not definitive and called for more carefully designed observational studies. The gene discussed is DPP4; the disease is pancreatitis.
