LTA4H and tuberculosis: Tobin and colleagues have highlighted the potential of using LTA4H host genotypes to guide choice of treatment for tuberculosis: individuals with tuberculous meningitis with a LTA4 genotype associated with an excessive inflammatory response benefited from adjunctive immunomodulatory steroid treatment, whereas this was harmful in those with a LTA4 genotype associated with an inadequate inflammatory response (Tobin et al., 2012).
