The super-enhancer classification of this element is thus far restricted to EBV-infected cells (GM12878), early haematopoietic and T cell lineages (CD3, CD56, CD34+ primary, CD8 primary and CD4 T-cell subsets) and not CD19 primary and CD20 B cells, pointing to EBV infection in driving its activation in B cells. The gene discussed is CD34; the disease is Epstein-Barr virus infection.
