Translational regulators and RNA-binding proteins including the RNA granule components are emerging as factors associated with neurodevelopmental disorder, intellectual disability and mental disorder, e.g., the mammalian target of the rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) signaling pathway in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP) in fragile X syndrome, and disrupted-in-schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) in schizophrenia6, 7, 8, 9. Here, DISC1 is linked to neurodevelopmental disorder.
