Finally, while the novel association noted between a variant in SETD7 and serum lycopene concentrations, both of which have been associated with prostate cancer, may provide the rationale for further study into the specific mechanisms of this relationship, this study did not collect data on family history of prostate cancer, prostate specific antigen, or other markers of the disease and no direct inference can be made. This evidence concerns the gene SETD7 and prostate carcinoma.
