Since substance dependence requires interaction of multiple genes, the combination of genotypes ADH2*2, CYP2E1*1 combined with genotype homozygous ALDH2*1 found in this study could be leading to the population to a potential risk, given that the alleles present in our population whose presence allows a higher oxidation rate, increase clearance rates alcohol and acetaldehyde, resulting in greater tolerance to the consumption of large quantities of alcohol being this is a risk factor for developing a dependency to alcohol. This evidence concerns the gene CYP2E1 and substance dependence.
