STAT1 and coccidioidomycosis: STAT1 GOF mutation is the most common hereditary cause of isolated CMC [6–8], and these mutations are associated with a spectrum of fungal infections, such as cutaneous fusariosis, disseminated coccidioidomycosis and histoplasmosis, Penicillium marneffei infections, and disseminated mucormycosis [9–12], underscoring the importance of STAT1-dependent responses in antifungal host defense.
