Recently, Anandarajah et al. demonstrated, in a limited cohort of patients with RA in clinical remission according to the ACR criteria after various treatments (anti-TNF-α therapy or conventional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs)], that imaging and histological assessment documented a persistently active disease state mainly in patients with RA receiving conventional DMARD treatment [12].
