What we do not know is whether, and if so, how, an elevation of the O-GlcNAcylation status of ChREBP, SREBP, and LXR, all driving FAS transcription, mediates the lipogenic enzyme overexpression in cancer cells, and, on the opposite, if O-GlcNAcylation of FXR reduces its expression. This evidence concerns the gene MLXIPL and cancer.
