Shikonin, a major component of L. erythrorhizon (Zi-Cao) and Arnebia euchroma (Ruan-Zi-Cao), is effective in increasing CD3+ and CD19+ lymphocytes, and improving NK activities, lymphocyte transformation and IL-2 production in hepatoma HepA22 bearing mice [141] (Figure 1, Table 3). Here, IL2 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
