TP53 and hepatocellular carcinoma: Curcumol, a compound present in C. phaeocaulis, C. wenyujin or C. kwangsiensis (Er-Zhu), inhibits cell proliferation and induces G0 phase cell cycle arrest by activating the p53/RB pathway that involves cyclin A1, CDK2, CDK8, p21WAF1 and p27KIP1 in HCC cells [61] (Figure 1).
