MPO and infection: The chronic activation of eosinophils and neutrophils in lung tissue was evident in the results of assessment of eosinophil peroxidase and myeloperoxidase activities at 8 days post-infection in the lung, which was significantly higher during reinfection when compared to single exposure to the parasite (p = 0.0004 and p = 0.02, respectively) (Fig 4H and 4I).
