Endometritis is refractory to current treatments and leads to significant morbidity, mortality, and infertility.19 Persistent inflammation, even following bacterial clearance, is a major feature of the disease and is associated with marked and sustained neutrophil infiltration, elevated IL-6, and IL-8, and pus accumulating in the uterine lumen.19 However, the mechanism that drives these events is unclear. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and endometritis.
